A ballista is an ancient missile weapon that was used for throwing various large projectiles such as spears, stones, javelins to a distant target. The ballistae existed in ancient Greece and at the time of the Roman Empire; this type of weapon along with a trebuchet and a mangonel was also used by the knights in the Middle Ages. During the time people made ballistae of different sizes, sometimes very huge ballistae were used during sieges.
One of the defense weapons of a medieval town, a war rarity found among the ruins of the an unknown settlement, an exhibit of the ancient arsenal collection – you can choose any playing plot you want or think up a new one.

Of course you can use the Ballista in some war games as a part of the terrain. For a widespread storming of a castle we recommend you to use other sets of siege engines (e.g., a battering ram) and fortress elements (towers, gates, walls) of the UmBum series. You can find these items and a lot of different terrain for war games in our store.
