40 mm miniature, metal, unpainted.
Since the 15th century Japanese daimyo began to arm samurai and their foot soldiers ashigaru with matchlocks that were called tanagashima. The first tanagashima were brought to Japan by Portuguese merchants. Soon the Japanese themselves began to produce tanagashima and added various improvements to the guns. The emergence of the tanagashima arquebusier significantly changed the tactics during the battles and absolutely changed the way war was fought in Japan forever.
